ABOUT THE 1920 JASPER J. SMITH GROVE BEACH POINT BROCHURE
About 2003 Carol Kowalczyk arranged with her family's printing business to make copies of the original 1920 JJS Grove Beach Point Sales brochure and she generously made them available to the members of the Association. Then in 2004 we scanned one of the copies so it could be added to our web site. Early this year Carol went one step further and loaned us the original brochure itself so we could scan that in. Thanks once again to Carol, we now have a much clearer copy of the brochure on our web site. NOTE: If you've looked at the brochure before on the web there is a chance that when you go now to look at the new version you'll still get a copy of the old scan in your browser from your hard disc. To be sure you're looking at the latest version use the "Refresh" button on your browser to update each page.
WHERE THE BROCHURE PICTURES WERE TAKEN
JJS COVER: Our beach looking West past what is now the Island View and Grove Beach Terrace associations to the Grove Beach Improvement Association which had already been in existence for almost 25 years when the picture was taken.
JJS 2:Mohican Road from what is now Mennunketesuck Road. The site of the house on the left is now occupied by Steve & Betty Weber's home. The two houses on the right are on opposite sides of Riverview Road in Grove Beach Terrace. The right most one is now occupied by Paul & Phyllis Pallet-Hehn and was the home of Jasper J. Smith's resident real estate agent while the area was being marketed.
JJS CENTERFOLD: This appears to be a panoramic photo so the perspectives are a little off. It looks like the camera was set up at the intersection of what is now Mennunketesuck Road and Mohican Road.
JJS 7: This was probably taken from the Menunketesuck River bank, where Pilots Point North Yard is now located, just South of US-1 and the then existing, but temporarily abandoned, Shore Line Electric Railway bridge.
JJS BACK: Looking South, near or at the intersection of what is now Indian Trail and Mohawk Road.
